This weekend has been so busy and full of adventures to say the least! Saturday: April 22, 2017Saturday started at 3:45 am with watching tv until it was light enough to be able to see so I could get some stuff done. I cleaned all cages, vacuumed my floor, washed dishes, set up Utah's cage, and hung up pouches to dry. I was able to get all of that done by noon but I was exhausted. At about 7 o'clock that morning I ended up looking down on my floor to find a puddle of blood everywhere and had to go wake Jessica up. Where I burnt my toe on the side beside my toenail was slowly dying off but my feet ended up fighting me so bad that my foot ripped it the rest of the way off. So needless to say Jessica had to do wound care on my toe early. She had to take the nail the rest of the way off and clean it. I then had to clean up several puddles of blood that had clotted and was so totally gross. I took a nap after finishing up so I would be good and awake when I got to the airport to pick up my beautiful boy hedgehog. The plane arrived at 8:25 pm so we were going to have a late night. We had to leave kinda extra early because Deza needed us to pick up a few things for Corbin's fourth birthday party the next day. We stopped in to Party City to fill up some balloons and get a few last minute party details. We had a lot of fun just exploring the store to see everything it had to offer. Once we got to the airport all I had to do was go to the United airlines line and pick up my Utah. Once everything was in order and I find the paperwork we were able to leave and come home. I ended up not going to sleep until about one or 2 AM because I watched him for a long time to make sure he was settling in nicely. Utah is grumpy but doing well considering he had an eight hour flight and he's in a whole new environment. We are bonding very well together. Sunday: April 23, 2017Sunday the day started early once again at about 4 or 4:30 am. I don't know why but my body has decided that is what time I need to get up every morning. I held Utah for about three hours while I watch TV and waited for the sun to come up once more. The day was going to be cold so he wouldn't be able to come with me to Corbin's birthday party. It was so cold that I was not able to go outside very much, so I ended up alone in the house for most of the birthday party. I had to go back to the airport at five that evening to pick up two Sugar Glider that would be introduced into my breeding program.
We get to the airport on time kinda excited that we would be getting home earlier than last night. I go in to get them only to find out that they are not on the flight from Houston. So after an hour of confusion and talking on the phone to the breeder that I got them from we figure out that Houston never put them on the connecting flight to Alexandria. Somehow they forgot to put the flight. They would be put on the next connecting flight which was at 7:25 PM and would not get to Alexandria until 8:25 PM. I was so mad when I found out that I had to go home which was an hour drive itself only to eat supper and turn around and drive all the way back because someone forgot to put them on a flight. The United airline got their ass chewed out!! So after an hour of being in the airport we turned around and went home. Jessica did not feel like trying to drag the baby out all the way to Alexandria again so she sweet talked Deza into taking me back. We headed to Alexandria once more and pick them up before heading home. Once again we had a very late night and I am so glad that this weekend is finally over! So I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up with my blogging lately! I've been rather busy. So I had a urodynamicp study done Thursday of last week which would be where they fill my bladder up to see how much it holds before I start leaking around the catheter. Everything was going well until she started filling my bladder up, my bladder is not holding anything more than 200 ccs. If you know anything about the medical field you know that 200 ccs is not a lot. The surgery that I am wanting to do for my bladder augmentation will help fix this, and I'm hoping to hear about the date on it very soon. So until I hear back from when my surgery will be done I am literally staying wet all the time because my bladder is not holding anything anymore. There are other ways to take care of this problem but the bladder augmentation is probably the best way to go.
In January of 2016 my mom made the decision to take her own life by shooting herself in the head. It was totally unexpected and left me devastated. She was more than my mom, she was my everything. After my spinal cord injury she basically gave up her life to be my caregiver. In the seven and a half years following my injury we may have spent three days apart in total. Thankfully I'm not the one to find her, however I've seen enough CSI to know what that room looked like. It took many weeks to finally be able to sleep through the night again. I stayed awake trying to understand how my mom could just leave me like that, understand how she couldn't say goodbye. As time went on I came to terms with the fact that my mother was a paranoid schizophrenic that felt like she had no other choice than to take her own life, and that she didn't do what she did to hurt me but to give me my best chance at life even if that meant without her.
